This is open Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm.
You must take your National Insurance Number and Photo Identification along with you.
You will receive a response via letter to your current living address over the next few days. Please keep this safe as you will need this when starting your Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Checks.
Step 2: Get booked onto an Alpha Taxi Training course
Call the Alpha Driver Recruitment team on 0151 545 2028 to find out about the next course start dates and times.
BTEC Level 2 Certificate – Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver.
The course cost is £220. This cost will be totally refunded to you from week 12 in the form of radio settle only* (this is the weekly circuit fee every driver pays for the work provided to them).
You will also receive 8 weeks half price radio settle from Alpha when you complete the taxi licence process and start with Alpha as a new driver bonus!
*Must be within 3 months of commencement of licence
Step 3: Start your Enhanced disclosure and barring service checks and driving license consent
Please note the Enhanced DBS does not have to be completed to start the course however starting your Enhanced DBS checks at the same time as attending the course will speed up your application process significantly.

Please check with your own GP for eligibility. You can visit many different practices for this medical.
Step 5: Attend all course sessions
Once you have completed the course and passed all modules you can attend a BTEC Certificate presentation at our head office, Alpha Taxis, 6 Childwall Fiveways, Liverpool, L15 6YB
Please note, this will be a temporary certificate until the original is posted. You will be able to use the temporary certificate to take out your badge until your official qualification certificate is posted out to you. This is normally within 12 weeks of completion.
Step 6: Check your Itinerary
You should now have:
Right to work letter from Liverpool City Council
Enhanced DBS Certificate
Temporary Course Certificate
Driving License/Passport (Photo ID)
Group 2 Taxi Medical
£120.00 Badge fee (Card or Cheque only)
Step 7: Book your badge appointment
You will receive an email from Personnel Checks saying your Enhanced DBS has been completed. Please follow the link in the email to register your account to the City Council website. Submit your application via your online account and follow the appointment process.
